How to Protect Yourself from Hackers

 

A. If you have Firewall software that is less than a year old, then go over the Firewall Checklist.

B. If you're Firewall software is a year old or if you don't have Firewall software, you can buy Firewall software using the links below.  If you are unsure as to which to purchase, it might help to know that I prefer the Norton /Symantec products:

NOTE: After Installation review the Firewall Checklist.

NOTE: After installing a software firewall you might not be able to connect to the Internet. This is because your internet software wasn’t granted access through the firewall, so you must grant access to these applications.

C. If you have a high-speed connection (dsl, adsl, or cable) then you would be wise to invest in a hardware firewall. Similar to the software firewall, the hardware firewall will also be ready to go right out of the box. I personally use a Linksys firewall, but Netgear also makes a solid product.
